Thanagarians, Kryptonians, Kherubims, oh my. If you’d like to submit a question of your own, you can stop by my office at any time in the DC Community to state your case, which I’ll address to the best of my ability.Įncyclopedia Extraterrestria, Vol. As a faithful steward of the truth, I offer my time in this monthly column to address these inquiries. If you’ve seen this column before, you know it’s my personal mission to take on any question you have about the DC Universe-no matter how strange, granular, or obscure-and satisfy your curiosity. Alex Jaffe here, better known in the DC Community as HubCityQuestion. I'd be curious to know if they "acknowledge" Sinestro Corps War (at least between the SC & the GL, ignoring Superboy Prime & the other DC heroes getting involved) or War of the GL.Hello again. (Batman at least is always pretty isolated & aside from dying in Final Crisis (which they can just change the how), he can keep his past without it affecting other titles. I'm glad they didn't reboot GJ's GL world (probably only b/c he's a higher-up at DC), but give the scope of it's crossovers it just creates a mess to not reboot it. I understand that the DC-wide GL events don't make sense if everyone else's worlds were re-booted, but. But also keep in mind everything you read never actually happened now" (Not that that makes it impossible to follow, but it creates unnecessary confusion).Īdd in the Black Lanterns for that matter - a whole arc that is probably not acknowledged but still has a lot of play in the current titles. Sure, it works if you straight-up say that everything Johns wrote for GL previously is still continuity, but to eliminate these specific events, it only creates something like this: "Hey, who's this white glowing guy? I get the others are somehow connected to each of the color corps, but how's he fit in?" "He's the life entity. Their whole "mission" was to make it easy for new readers to jump on, yet here they go bringing in entities without explaining them. "How can Kyle wield all the emotions?" "He's the Torch Bearer" "Yea, but I mean physically how is he able?" "I just told you" >_< !!!! Very, lol. And it doesn't hurt them that Kyle is characterized as "The Torch Bearer", chosen one (was the first Ion in Johns & pre-Johns), etc. Their explanation is just that he learned how to focus each of the motions & voila! - he's a white lantern. Well, given the way most writers handle super-hero comics (ie: throwing things out there without even a semblance of logic/consistency, lol) - I'd say it'll never be explained nor will it fixed. (But sadly, even this ruffles people's feathers so much.I guess they're afraid your analysis will steal their enjoyment away). But thinking about the "things left unsaid", such as elaborating on vague ideas with other comic-based ideas to make the applications hold up better IRL (like "I'll spot you gets power from sun, but how would those powers mechanically work?") - like the explanation of tactile-kinesis (something not real) to make "holding giant objects" more plausible. Oh yea, you can't explain everything because there's a point when things just aren't possible. Let's be honest: do you think the writers have something in mind for why Kyle is the only one that, in the history of the corps, was able to do something like this? Or they just liked it and maybe one day they will try and fix it? ) But I am not one to just try and explain everything with real science. And to speculate about the science that could possibly, in a weird way, go into some stuff that happens in comics. I know there have been other such episodes for different characters, just seeing if we can speculate together I like to discuss the logic of stories to no end. Maybe Kyle has something different from other lanterns? Also, he had contact with every ring at a certain point. But if you put it like that I guess that there actually are a few holes. Interesting take, I never considered all of that (I read more GL than New Guardians and never stopped to ponder). And that his GL ring can even manipulate the other energies (could Sinesto use green with his yellow ring, in that regard?).blurring into the territory of magic ("if you believe!") for what is normally a science-toned book). There is the question of how Kyle recharges his energy (or even uses 1 at a time.like he's pulling it out of thin air (as comparatively, the lanterns of those corps have to physically charge their rings to have access to the energy - their emotions don't just give them access (it's just what lets them use the energy). It's just being able to wield all the others (so not really charging with a white nergy, just using all at once). There's not a WLC & it's not 1 spectrum of light.
